Chris Candido

1972-2005

Chris Candido started his wrestling career in 1986 after being trained by wrestler Larry Sharpe. He was a great talent who could both wrestle and entertain a crowd at the same time. He first gained prominence in Jim Cornette's Smokey Mountain Wrestling promotion and quickly won the company's United States and Television Championships. He also met his future wife Tammy Sytch while working in Smokey Mountain Wrestling. Around the same time he was also apart of ,in my opinion one of the greatest promotions ever, Extreme Championship Wrestling. There is where he won the Tag Team Titles with both Lance Storm and Johnny Hot Body. Whenever ECW is mentioned, you may think such names as Sandman and Sabu but his name also comes to mind as he was a major player in that federation. With all the success that he attained from working in SMW and ECW, he finally got the call up from the WWF in the year of 1995. upon entering the fed he was managed by Tammy (then known as Sunny) and was given the persona of Skip the fitness guru. He always wrestled good matches and was a regular on Raw is War. however his greatest claim to fame in the WWF was when he teamed with Tom Pritchard (playing Zip) forming thetag team known as the Bodydonnas. They eventually won the tag team titles and held it from March 31st(Wrestlemania 12) 1996 to May 5th of that year. After the run with the titles Chris Candido left the WWF and went back to ECW for a few years before entering World Championship Wrestling. He joined Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff's New Blood Stable and won the cruiserweight championship. He then got fired from WCW and went on to Xtreme Pro Wrestling and the independent scene. He won various titles during his time in the independents before beginning a career rebirth in Jeff Jarretts Total Nonstop Action Promotion. I last saw him in February at NWA cyberspace in a match he had with Frankie Kazarian he put on one of the best matches I have seen and I was hoping that he would be a major superstar in TNA. He took on many of their superstars and was a shoe in for X division champion but unfortunately he broke his leg at TNA's Lockdown ppv and after he received surgery he passed away. In his last appearance before his untimely death he helped the Naturals win the TNA tag titles . Now he is in wrestling heaven and we will all miss the superstar that was Chris Candido. Rest in Peace Chris and may your legacy live on..........
